<h2>The Best Way to Prevent the Flu</h2>
<p>Your immune system does a remarkable job in defending the body against and fighting disease-causing microorganisms.</p>
<p><strong>Having a strong, healthy immune system is the absolute best way to prevent the</strong> <strong>flu</strong> (and all other diseases as well).</p>
<p>Since your immune system is a <em>system</em> and not a single entity, it requires balance and harmony to operate at its optimum level.</p>
<h2>How to Boost Your Immune System</h2>
<p>The best way to have a strong, healthy immune system is to adopt healthy living strategies. Here&#8217;s what we recommend:</p>

<p>See, most crops are covered with pesticides. Farmers use these poisons to increase crop yields and lower costs of food production. And even though pesticides have been proven to cause disease and weaken your immune system, the US Government allows its use due to the impacts on the economy (<a href="https://www.thedrswolfson.com/governments-food-companies-big-pharma-media-healthcare-operators-keep-us-fat-sick/">see this post for details</a>).</p>
<p>Studies show that <a href="https://foodrevolution.org/blog/food-and-health/organic-reduce-pesticide-exposure/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">just one week of organic eating reduces pesticide exposure</a> by a whopping 90%!</p>
<p>Most meat and poultry in this country is raised using antibiotics and inhumane conditions. This results in harm to the body in many ways. Always eat certified organic, grass-fed, free-range meat and poultry.</p>
<p>Only eat wild seafood. Farm-raised fish are fed genetically modified (GMO) non-native foods. They are given antibiotics to fight disease. They are raised on farms in ponds in their own filth. Wild seafood is what to eat for a strong immune system.</p>

<p>Lack of sleep is a prime contributor to immune system deficiencies. It&#8217;s been proven that lack of sleep leads to disease.</p>
<p>While you are sleeping your body refreshes and rejuvenates itself. Most adults need 8 hours of good quality sleep each day. I used to think when I was in my 20s that I could get by with less. I was wrong and you are too. What you do today impacts your body tomorrow. Poor sleep patterns can impact your health years down the road.</p>
<p>Get eight hours of sleep each day.</p>

<p>Your body, like most other things in nature, requires sunlight to live and thrive. Yet most humans spend all day indoors in artificial light.</p>
<p>That&#8217;s not good for your health.</p>
<p>And because some people overdid their time in the sun and burnt their skin, the media and public health officials warned against it. That&#8217;s bad advice. It has resulted in nearly every person we see in our practice being deficient in vitamin D. Adequate levels of vitamin D are essential to immune system function.</p>
<p>Charge up your immune system by spending time each day in the sun. Thirty minutes or more. And if you can spend time in the sun while you are naked, so much the better for you!</p>

<strong style="font-size: 24px;">Drink quality water</strong></p>
<p>All your body&#8217;s cells, organs, and tissues use water to maintain bodily functions. Your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s important to rehydrate by drinking a proper amount of quality water each day.</p>
<p>Your body was designed to hydrate with water. Certain types of teas work as well.</p>
<p>Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day. That means a 160-pound person should drink 80 ounces of water.</p>
<p>Most of the water available today is contaminated.  Bottled water comes in plastic which, even if it is BPA-free plastic, contains chemicals that can seep out into the water when exposed to heat or if it sits around a long time. That&#8217;s why we recommend a home water filtration system. <a href="https://shop.thedrswolfson.com/collections/health-equipment/products/pristine-hydro-water-system">Here&#8217;s the one we use</a>.</p>

<p>Toxins are poisons to your body&#8217;s immune system, and there are a ton of toxins in food, personal care, and household cleaning products.</p>
<p>Eliminating as many toxins are possible will boost the health of your immune system.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ve already eliminated toxins that come from pesticides in food by eating only organic and following the dietary guidelines we covered earlier.</p>
<p>Now, we need to get rid of the toxins in our everyday lives. That means we use only natural organic personal care and household cleaning products. It&#8217;s easy to do, it costs less and it results in products that work better than those you are presently using.</p>

<strong style="font-size: 24px;">Be active outdoors</strong></p>
<p>Walk, run, bike or hike outside every day for at least 30 minutes. Play sports like tennis or basketball. Grab a mat and practice yoga in your backyard.</p>
<p>Medical study after study confirms the immune system benefits and overall health benefits to exercising.</p>
<p>Be active outside. Most gyms are filled with toxic chemical cleaners used on the equipment. Those chemicals enter your body through your lungs and skin. Avoid them while enjoying the benefits of being outside.</p>
<p>Exercise in moderation. Thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise each day. Bodyweight strength exercises three times a week.</p>
<p>While you are outside, take your shoes and socks off and walk barefoot on the earth. This practice is called &#8220;grounding.&#8221; It will strengthen your immune system and brings numerous other health benefits as well.</p>
<p>One last point about being active. Stress is a leading contributor to a weakened immune system. Physical activities reduce stress.</p>

<p>In addition, environmental pollutants bombard and overload our bodies with toxins. This overload is so severe that most of us simply can&#8217;t detoxify the way nature intended.</p>

<p>But is the flu vaccine effective?</p>
<p>At making people money, yes. At protecting your health, no.</p>
<p>Many medical experts, including The Drs. Wolfson, feel that flu shots do more harm than good.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s why we are against the flu vaccine for adults, children and the elderly (for everyone):</p>
<h2># 1 &#8211; It Weakens Your Immune System</h2>
<p>Your immune system keeps infectious microorganisms out of your body and fights any that happen to get through and invade your body.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s your body&#8217;s natural defense system against the flu and the flu shot destroys it!</p>
<p>Researchers at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center found that <a href="https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-10-17-bombshell-flu-shots-scientifically-proven-to-weaken-immune-response-in-subsequent-years-researchers-stunned.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">getting the flu shot weakened immune system response in subsequent years</a>!</p>
<p>The US Center for Disease Control says, &#8220;Older people with weaker immune systems often have a lower protective immune response after flu vaccination compared to younger, healthier people. This can make them more susceptible to the flu.&#8221;</p>
<p>Not only does a weakened immune system increase the odds of getting the flu, it skyrockets the risks of getting other diseases like cancer!</p>
<h2># 2 &#8211; It Contains Ingredients Harmful to Your Body</h2>
<p>Mercury, formaldehyde, detergent, flu virus…the list of junk in the flu vaccine goes on and on.</p>

As a cardiologist, the data on formaldehyde and blood vessel damage is of major concern. <p>I think you&#8217;d agree that cancer and cardiovascular issues are much worse than the flu. They kill more people.</p>
<p>So why the push for the flu shot? The government needs a healthy economy and companies need to make money. It&#8217;s not about your health. It&#8217;s all about the money.</p>
<h2># 3 &#8211; It Doesn&#8217;t Work</h2>
<p>Proponents of the flu shot say it has limited impacts, and they feel it works best when the flu vaccine is well matched with most circulating flu viruses.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what that means.</p>
<p>Drug companies each year develop flu vaccines based upon what they believe will be the strains of flu virus during the flu season. These vaccines are developed 8-10 months before they are needed, and are based upon projections and forecasts. You and I would call them &#8220;guesses.&#8221;</p>
<p>Most of the time, drug companies guess wrong.</p>
<p>Even the <a href="http://www.nvic.org/nvic-vaccine-news/april-2016/cdc-admits-flu-shots-fail-half-the-time.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">CDC says that the flu shot is effective only 50% of the time</a>. Based upon what we&#8217;ve seen during our medical careers, that number is quite generous.</p>
<p><strong>Why expose yourself to cancer and cardiovascular disease to fight the flu?</strong> That makes no sense. And let&#8217;s say for a minute the science is wrong and that the flu shot doesn&#8217;t cause those diseases. Do you really want to take the chance for something that even its proponents claim is only effective 50% of the time? </p>
<h2># 4 &#8211; There Are Natural Alternatives That Are More Effective</h2>
<p>As we said earlier, the best way to combat the flu is with a healthy, strong, thriving immune system.</p>
