The One Thing You Absolutely Must Know About Coffee

There’s been lots of discussion and lots of studies about the health impacts of coffee.

Some say coffee is OK for your health. Some say it’s good. Some say it is bad. Read to the end of this post to learn our opinion here at The Drs. Wolfson.

There is one thing about coffee though that NO ONE DISPUTES. More chemical fertilizers are sprayed on coffee than nearly any other crop in the world!

And that IS the UNDISPUTED PROBLEM, chemical fertilizers ARE harmful to your health.

Now don’t go running. We’re not telling you to stop drinking coffee. Many people feel they would die without their morning cup of Joe, even with a little poison along the way.

However, we advise you to be highly selective about the type of coffee you drink.

You should only drink CERTIFIED ORGANIC COFFEE.

Here’s why:

Chemical fertilizers have been directly linked to all sorts of health problems. They also harm the environment and the people who work with them.

Up to 250 pounds per acre of chemical fertilizers are sprayed on coffee. Most of the coffee beans used by Americans is imported, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture has nearly no control over the type and amount of chemicals used on coffee produced in other countries.

When you drink conventional coffee, you’re drinking pesticide residue from these chemical sprays. These pesticide residues have been directly linked to cancer, heart disease, reproductive harm, and endocrine disruptions.

Why expose yourself to that risk, and why drink coffee covered in chemicals, when you could drink it naturally, without all that garbage?

Here are the coffees we drink:

We also like the toxin-free glass coffee maker by Chemex.

Truth be told, caffeine is an addiction and is definitely not Paleo. Caffeine can increase heart attack risk in genetically slow metabolizers. Caffeine can raise blood pressure. Caffeine can lead to heart rhythm issues. Caffeine can exacerbate anxiety, stress, and obviously, be a cause of sleep disorders.

But if you’re going to drink it, make it organic.

Until next time, enjoy your morning Joe!
